Robert A. Busse – age 89, of Laurens, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2022, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Robert Allen Busse was born on June 27, 1932, in Bigalow, MN. He was the son of William and Sena (Jepson) Busse. The family moved shortly after to a farm east of Spencer where they made their home. Robert attended Spencer Schools. He married his sweetheart, Annah Handy on July 29, 1953. They have spent 68 wonderful years together. Robert worked for Becker Roofing Company before entering the U.S. Army in 1953, serving in the Korean War. He was stateside and was stationed on Vashon Island Washington State where he was a cook. He was discharged in 1954 and returned to Spencer where he spent several years working for M & JR. Hakes. When Hakes moved their operation to Laurens, Robert and Annah also moved to Laurens where they made their home. Robert retired from Fleming Foods after 39 years of employment.

Robert was a member of the United Methodist Church. They spent their winters in Arizona golfing and being with friends. He loved to dance and especially loved the many fishing trips he took with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Annah of Laurens; sons, Michael (Brenda) Busse of Camanche, and Troy (Kari) Busse of Taylor Ridge, IL; a daughter, Lory (Joe) Zeman of Pocahontas; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lloyd and Bill Busse; sisters, Maxine Busse, Larraine Sarvold and Vergene McFarland; aunts and uncles; daughter-in-law, Tamie Busse; infant granddaughter, Sydney and grandson, Dylan.
