Robert "Bob" Claiborne was born on October 10, 1933, in Fremont County, Iowa to Edward DeWayne and Dola (Dunsdon) Claiborne. Bob passed away at Stewart Memorial Hospital on Friday, October 6, 2023.

Bob grew up in Manson, IA where he graduated high school with the Class of 1951. On May 15, 1953, Bob was united in marriage to Eunice Darling at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manson, Iowa. They lived in Manson for a short time before moving to Lake City in March of 1954. They were blessed with three children, Jeff, Janet, and JoAnn.

During Bob's working years, he worked as a farm hand for Frank Strandberg. Bob and Eunice moved to Lake City where he worked for The Lake City Graphic as a printer pressman. He worked there from 1954 to 1975. Bob then worked for Watters Appliances from 1975 to 1995 which is when both Bob and Eunice decided to retire.

Bob was a Jaycee and served as the State Vice President. He was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church where he also was a groundskeeper for many years. Bob loved his family, his garden, and his yard. Bob enjoyed going fishing with his friend Dusty and having coffee with his friends at Sweet Things.

Bob is survived by his wife of 70 years, Eunice Claiborne of Lake City; son: Jeff (Patrice) Claiborne of Lake City; daughter: Janet (Alan) Schrad of Lake City; Son-in-law John Wiederin of Lake City; 8 grandchildren: Angie (Shawn) Holloway, Janelle (Carl) Duffy, Justin (Sarah) Claiborne, Jill (Marty) Stoelk, Cody (Laura) Sigmon, Ty (Kayla) Wiederin, Clayton (Piper Richardson) Wiederin, and Tanner Schrad;11 great-grandchildren: Anna and Abbi Holloway, Cade and Kennedy Duffy, Lauren and Brady Stoelk, Elodie and Levi Sigmon, Kal and Cam Wiederin, and Lee Wiederin; half-sister: DeLane Davidson, and half brothers James Newell and Roger (Vicki) Newell.

He was preceded in death by his father DeWayne Claiborne, his mother Dola Newell, and daughter JoAnn Wiederin.
