Robert DeWall, age 98, of Pocahontas, Iowa, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday May 6, 2025. Born on the farm east of Pocahontas with a clock on the barn, Robert was the second of six children, to Harm and Minnie DeWall.

Robert's early years were spent attending a rural school near Palmer, and he was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lizard Township. Robert served his country in the US Army during World War II. In 1962, he married Myrna Mapes, and together they built a life centered around farming in Pocahontas County.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, Myrna; his son, Bruce; his daughters, Trena and Marla; one cherished grandson; and his brother Herman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harm and Minnie; his sister, Helena; his brother, Alfred; his sister, Margaret; and his brother, Marvin.

Honoring Robert's wishes, there will be no funeral service. The DeWall family deeply appreciates all the support and kindness shown to them over the years.

Robert will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and his lifelong commitment to farming. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Memorials can be made in Robert's name to the Pocahontas, Laurens, or Palmer Fire Department.
