Robert G. Fuchs – age 79, of Laurens, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.

Robert Glen Fuchs was born on March 9, 1945, in Storm Lake, Iowa. He was the son of William and Loryl (VanHorsen) Fuchs. He graduated from Laurens High School in 1963 and served in the U.S. Navy from August of 1965 – July of 1968. Following his military service, Bob returned to Laurens. On Feb. 20, 1971, Bob married Rita Siddall in Laurens. They settled in Laurens and Bob continued working with his father in operating Bill's Service Center in Laurens. On August 21, 1998, Robert was united in marriage to Diane Rubel in Laurens. The couple made their home in Laurens. Bob retired from operating the service center in 2010. Diane passed away in March of 2013 and Bob continued to make his home in Laurens.

Bob was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Laurens American Legion. He served on the Laurens Fire Department for many years and enjoyed hunting & fishing and driving around in his truck.

Survivors include his children, Thomas (Alison) Fuchs of Emmetsburg, Melanie (Dave) Selck of Cedar Rapids and Roberta Fuchs of Cedar Rapids; step-daughters, Denise Terrell of Peterson and Darci Rubel of Elliott; 14 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and a sister, Shirley Hayes of Ida Grove.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Diane and a brother-in-law, Harry Hayes.

The family requests that memorials be made in Bob's name to the discretion of the family to be donated to organizations of their choice in honor of Bob.
