Robert V. Gray – age 70, of Rolfe, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021, at the VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Robert Vernon Gray was born on July 9, 1950 in Newport, Rhode Island. He was the son of Robert and Valda (Rodwell) Gray. He attended schools in Lake City and graduated from Graettinger High School in 1968. After high school, Robert served in the United States Navy for three years and during this time he spent time aboard the U.S.S. Bonhomme Richard Aircraft Carrier near Vietnam. On March 3, 1969, Robert was united in marriage to Kathryn Haisman in Carpinteria, CA. Following his discharge from the military, the couple lived in various cities in Iowa and Illinois. In 2008, they moved to Rolfe. Robert retired in 2009 after doing carpentry work for many years.

Robert was a life member of D.A.V. and American Legion. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn of Rolfe; daughter, Valerie White of Humboldt; son, Sean (fiancé Brandi) Gray of Elkhart; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters Mavis Bates of Virginia, Nancy (Jim) Boyd of LeMars and Teresa (John) Miller of Aurelia. Robert was preceded in death by his parents.
