Robert "Bob" Herman – age 66, of Boone, formerly of Pocahontas, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021, at the MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Robert Dennis Herman was born on June 4, 1954, in Storm Lake, Iowa.  He was the son of John and Lucy (Malecek) Herman. He graduated from Fonda High School in 1973. Bob worked at the Pocahontas Lumber for several years. He was united in marriage to Rose Marie Wheatley on June 19, 1976, at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Varina. The couple settled near Pocahontas and Bob worked various jobs of which trucking and farming were his passion. In 2015, he moved to Boone where he drove truck for Fareway Foods and hauled grain for Busch Farms.

Bob enjoyed fishing, mowing, fixing things and working on tractors and on the farm. Bob was always there for his kids, whether out in the field, running parts or fixing ceiling fans. In earlier years he enjoyed deer hunting. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren who they lovingly called "Papa Bob."

Bob is survived by his wife, Rosie of Pocahontas; sons, Mark Herman of Odeboldt, Tony (Tracy) Herman of Woodward and Andrew Herman of Minneapolis, MN; daughter, Angela (Steven) Herman of Littleton, CO; mother, Lucy Herman of Pocahontas; 4 grandchildren, Kailee, Tucker, Mason and Tyson; 4 brothers and 4 sisters.

Bob was preceded in death by his father, John; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lyle and Phyllis Wheatley; sister-in-law, Tina Wheatley and brother-in-law, Joe Shimon.

In lieu of flowers memorials are requested in Bob's name to be mailed to his family or Pocahontas State Bank in Pocahontas, Iowa.
