Robert "Bobby" Schwardt, age 74, of Pomeroy, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Regency Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Carroll, Iowa.

Robert Earl Schwardt was born September 23, 1951 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to parents Emil and Pearl (Wolff) Schwardt. Bobby was baptized on September 21, 1952 and confirmed on April 11, 1965 at St. John Lutheran Church in Pomeroy. He graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1969 and attended a half year of college. On July 25, 1981, Bobby was united in marriage to Renee Korf at St. John Lutheran Church in Pomeroy. The couple made their home on an acreage near Pomeroy where they farmed and raised their family. Bobby worked for a summer after high school for Lee Kuhrt, then beginning in February of 1971, he worked for the Pomeroy Coop where he ran the feed mill and mixed fertilizer. Bobby was moved to the Palmer Coop when it merged with NEW Coop in 1992. In 1998, he began supervising feed mills, and in December of 1999, the family moved into Pomeroy. Bobby moved to the Agronomy Division for NEW Coop in 2008 where he retired in 2021 at the age of 70. After retirement from NEW Coop, Bobby continued farming and worked for Twin Lakes Utilities in their water and sewer department.

Bobby was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in Pomeroy where he was very active and held several positions over the years. He was also a past volunteer on the Pomeroy Fire Department and served as Sherman Township Trustee for several years. Bobby loved Iowa and Iowa State Football and Basketball, going fishing, visiting casinos and trips to Branson, Missouri.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Renee of Pomeroy; daughters, Mindy Schwardt of Des Moines; Monica Schwardt of Carroll and Marla (Seth) Renze of Carroll; grandchildren, Kinnick Schwardt, Evan Renze and Ady Renze; brother, Richard Schwardt of Pomeroy; sister-in-law, JoAnn Peters of Lake View; brother-in-law, Roger (Deb) Korf of Clear Lake, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and Wayne Bridwell; sister-in-law, Karen Schwardt; in-laws, Ray and Jean Korf; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carol and George Mayton; brother-in-law, Charles Peters, and nieces, Carolyn Mayton and Jannifer Bridwell.
