Rodney J. Mayou - age 58, of Laurens, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2019, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Rod's story starts on January 2, 1961, the only child born to Raymond and Marlene Mayou (Taylor). Rod spent his childhood years in Spencer, Iowa where he attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and Spencer Middle and High School. During childhood, Rod's curiosity, sense of adventure and small amounts of mischief, led to notable outcomes. All of which are treasured memories. Rod met the love of his life, Susie in 1992 Rod and Susie were married in 1994 in Spencer, Iowa. Rod and Susie were blessed to raise an incredible son, CJ. Rod's family always reminded him that Susie and CJ were the best thing that ever happened to him, to which Rod was quick to reply, "I think they did pretty darn good getting me".
Rod, Susie and CJ lived in Laurens, Iowa where Rod worked at various occupations.

Rod's sense of humor brought joy to all who knew him. Most gatherings, both family and friends, were characterized by laughter. Rod may have presented with a tough exterior, but all who knew him, were a recipient of his soft heart.

Rod was renowned for his impeccable organization skills. If you take one look at how he organized his tools in the garage, you knew he was a bit of a perfectionist. Rod could build or repair anything. He took on every project with great pride. A recent quote of Rod's tells the story...."Just because it ain't broke, doesn't mean it don't need fixed".

If there was anywhere Rod loved to be,it was on the open road. Rod's motorcycles were not just a bike, but an extension of himself. Rod rode into the sunset on August 24, 2019 after a very short battle with cancer
