Rolland M. Mann – age 92, formerly of Rolfe, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2020, at the Emmetsburg Care Center in Emmetsburg, Iowa.

Rolland Morris Mann was born June 21st, 1927 in the Pisgah / Little Sioux, Iowa area to Loreno and Alfred Freezse. He grew up in the shadows of the Loess hills hunting and fishing the nearby Little Sioux River and helping his parent's farm. He grew up with four siblings. Three younger brothers, John, Dick and Bill and a younger sister, Ramona. Ramona and Bill are the surviving siblings, both living in the Omaha - Council Bluffs area. In I944 his father signed papers that allowed Rolland to join the war effort and was stationed in Germany where he met his future wife, Ingeborg Rita Eich. They were married in military fashion in Germany and she accompanied him home when his service was over. Upon returning home, Rolland attended the Iowa school of barbering in Sioux City and continued barbering for 42 years upon his graduation. Although Rollie, as his friends called him, held many jobs during his life the one he would call his "real" job was managing the state run Iowa Liquor Store in Rolfe, Iowa for over 20 years.

Rolfe, Iowa was where Rollie and Inge called home. They had four boys, Mike [Deb] from Des Moines, twins Roger and Russell, both deceased, LeRoy [Linda] from Cedar Rapids and a daughter, Dawn from Algona. There are also many grandchildren and even a few great grandchildren that will miss that infectious smile.

While residing in Rolfe for well over 30 years, Rollie was elected and served as Mayor, was American Legion local post commander several times and Pocahontas County Commander as well. He was also active with St. Paul's Lutheran Church and would be happy to lend anyone a hand when he could.

For the last two years Rollie has resided in Emmetsburg at the Emmetsburg Care Center where he enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, cribbage, reading, visitors and giving the care staff a reason to smile! Especially his "buddy" Tracy!

Rolland was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sons, Russell and Roger, infant son, Gregory and brothers Richard and John Mann.

Rollie will join his wife, Inge, at the Clinton-Garfield Cemetery in Rolfe at a future date to be announced. At that time there will be a graveside service and a meet and greet.
