Rollin K. Johnson – age 85, of Pocahontas, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2020, at the Humboldt Care Center – North in Humboldt, Iowa.

Rollin Keith Johnson was born July 11, 1934 to Adolph and Bertha (Lambertson) Johnson on the family farm in Grant Township in Pocahontas County. He attended Grant 4 country school for eight years and graduated from Pocahontas High School in 1952. He attended Emmetsburg Junior College for a year and a half where he enjoyed playing football.
On April 21, 1956, Rollin married Jane Carney at Assumption Catholic Church in Emmetsburg, Iowa. That November he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served as an aircraft and helicopter mechanic. Upon an honorable discharge he returned to Pocahontas where he was employed at the Pocahontas Ford Garage for 36 years.
Rollin was most happy when he was surrounded by his family, who loved him very much. After family, he loved ice cream, Wheaties, and cookies. He was always so grateful for anyone who showed him any kindness. Rollin enjoyed collecting Pocahontas and family history, toy tractors, and mechanical pencils. He, with the help of family and friends restored a railroad crossing in Pocahontas to remind us of the trains that used to run through his favorite town. He loved this town of Pocahontas. He especially enjoyed restoring old machinery and going to tractor and threshing shows. One of his favorite projects was restoring and driving his Dad's 48 Ford that he called POPSCAR. He entered it in many parades and family weddings.
He was a member of Resurrection Parish, American Legion Post #18 and past member of the Pocahontas Golf Club and Albert City Threshers Association.
Survivors include wife of 64 years, Jane, son Jeff (Kathy) of Pocahontas, Jolene (Dick) Billings of Jefferson SD, and Jill Mosbach of Bronson, Iowa. Grandchildren: Amy (Kent) Luck, Toledo, Ohio; Amber (Drew) Allen, Charleston, S.C.; Ryan (Sarah) Johnson, Columbia MO; Michael (Renae) Billings, Sioux City, IA; Matthew (Abby) Billings, Sioux City, IA; Beth (Dan) Larson, Little Canada, MN; Ashley (Casey) Sartorius, Fort Dodge, IA and Zachary (Savanna) Mosbach, Emmetsburg, IA; 16 great-grandchildren, who he lovingly called "The Entertainers" and a brother, Merlin (Connie) Johnson of Lyman, ME.
Rollin was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence, Norman and Marlin and sisters, Grace, Bernice and baby Berneda.
