Ronald Lee Trenary, age 81, of Rolfe, passed from the earthly realm on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at his home near Rolfe, Iowa, surrounded by his family.

Ronald Lee Trenary was born on November 3, 1944, to Alvin "Shorty" and Gertrude "Pat" (Collins) Trenary, beginning his life on the family farm that would influence him for decades to come. As Ron grew up, he attended DMT and graduated from Rolfe High School in 1962. He was a hard worker who took pride in everything he did. On July 13, 1963, Ron married Joan Mae Gregory at the United Methodist Church in Rolfe, Iowa. They were blessed with four children.

During his early married years in Storm Lake, Ron worked for the City of Storm Lake, Super Value, and DX Service Station . After returning to Rolfe in 1971, when his mother's health declined, he spent several years with Iowa Industrial Hydraulics in Pocahontas before beginning his long association with Farm Service of Rolfe. He continued there until the business closed, after which he joined the Rolfe Pro Co-op, where he worked for many years before retiring. He also retired from farming—the work he had a true passion for—in 2023.

Ron loved the outdoors. In earlier years he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and even when his health no longer allowed him to participate, the love of those traditions never left him. He found peace in gardening, caring for the land, and tending to the family dogs who were always at his side. His farm was a haven for birds, and he took great joy in watching and feeding them. Ron was also a skilled cribbage player who enjoyed many games with friends and family.

Most of all, Ron cherished time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather—always ready with a helping hand or a listening ear.

He was preceded in death by his infant son, Dwight Gene Trenary; his wife, Joan; his brother, Wilbur Ile, and his parents, Gertrude and Alvin Trenary.

He is survived by his children, Dennis Trenary (Mary) of Rolfe, Darla Trenary (Steve Grettenberg) of Fort Dodge, and Ronald Trenary II (Kristine) of Rolfe. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Trenary of Rolfe; his brother, Gene Trenary (Kathy) of Arizona; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Ron lived a fulfilling life surrounded by love, work, laughter, and family. His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him, and his memory will be cherished forever.
