Sadie L. Challand – age 92, of Laurens, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2019, at the Laurens Care Center in Laurens, Iowa.

Sadie Lucille Stiles was born September 18, 1926, in Laurens, Iowa. She was the daughter of Faye and Edith (Horsman) Stiles. Sadie attended Laurens High School. On December 26, 1945, Sadie married Paul Challand in Laurens. The couple settled in Laurens where they raised their three sons, Richard, Gary and Brian. Sadie worked at the Superior Manufacturing Company in Albert City for many years and then for Mefferd Industries in Laurens for 10 years before retiring. Paul passed away in November of 2012 and Sadie continued to make her home in Laurens.

Sadie was a member of the First Christian Church, CWF, VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed her free time reading and spending time with friends and family.

Survivors include her sons, Brian Challand of Boise, Idaho and Gary Challand of Spencer, Iowa; a sister, Goldie Heathman of Owatonna, MN and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; son, Richard Challand; sisters, Betty Lingle and Donna Whitmore and brothers, Leland, Bill and Delbert Stiles.
