Arnold Lubinus – age 88, of Laurens and Pocahontas, passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021, at the Laurens Care Center in Laurens, Iowa.

Arnold Lubinus was born December 10, 1932, the son of John Sr. and Antje (Heyen) Lubinus, near Breda, Iowa. He was baptized June 12, 1933, and confirmed April 10, 1949. He graduated from Pocahontas High School in 1951. On July 1, 1956, he was united in marriage to Marlene "Olie" Cundiff in Pocahontas. To this union three children were born, John A., Kimberly and Lori Jean. The couple settled between Laurens and Pocahontas, where they farmed and raised their family

Arnie was a farmer through and through, crops and cattle were what he loved. He often told Olie, he would take her anywhere as long as they were home by chore time. Olie passed away in 1997.

On February 11, 1999, Arnie was united in marriage to Benita Eberle. The couple enjoyed traveling to see family. Over the last few years, Arnie enjoyed puttering around the farm, feeding birds and helping out where he could.

Arnie was a member of Hope United Methodist Church, Farm Bureau, and Pocahontas County Cattlemen. He loved playing cards with family and friends and was a volunteer for Hospice for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Benita; daughter, Kim (Lynn) Johnson of Albert City; grandchildren, Becky and Jessica; great-grandchildren, Crystal and Brandon; brothers, Elmer (Norma) Lubinus and John (Lavina) Lubinus; step-children, Kenneth (Nancy) Eberle, Charles Eberle, Elaine (Duane) Hussey, Richard (Erin) Eberle and Sharon Eberle GeBauer; step-grandchildren, Dr. Andrea Eberle, Dr. Nicole Eberle, Dr. Nathan Eberle, Christina Eberle, Carrie Miller, Ryan Hussey, Chris Hussey, Joe Eberle, Cavan Eberle and Maureen Eberle and many other family and friends.

Arnie was preceded in death by his parents, John and Antje Lubinus; wife, Marlene; children, John and Lori; brother, Walter and step-son, Francis.
