Terrance "Terry" Himes, age 84, of Lake City, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Accura HealthCare of Lake City, IA.  Terry was born on June 14, 1942, to parents Eugene and Velma (Ankney) Himes in Coggon, IA.  He grew up in Cedar Rapids, IA, where he attended grade school at St. Wenceslaus Catholic School.  He later graduated from Regis Catholic High School in 1960.

Terry was blessed with four children: Jon, Elizabeth, Bradley, and Thomas.  On January 9, 1982, Terry united in marriage to Patricia Ann Duggins at the St. Paul's Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. Terry worked several jobs throughout his life.  He worked in the Water Department in Cedar Rapids and was a credit manager for Greentree Corp in the Seattle, WA area. They spent a few years living in Prairieburg, IA, where Terry worked for the Cedar Rapids Assessor's office and was Mayor of Prairieburg for a couple of years before moving back to Cedar Rapids. Terry continued to work in the Cedar Rapids assessor's office up until his retirement in 2005.

In his free time, Terry enjoyed watching movies and listening to music.  He liked reading information about conspiracy theories regarding President Kennedy, and keeping up on World News.  When living in Lake City, he was on the City Council for a term and had a great group of friends that met for coffee at Sweet Things.  Terry was a very friendly person and enjoyed people.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 44 years, Patricia Himes of Lake City, IA; children: Jon (Dee) Himes of Bettendorf, IA, Elizabeth (David) Simonsen of the Denver, CO area, Bradley (Wendy) Himes of Parker, CO, and Thomas Himes of Tipton, IA; and many friends.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and several cousins from eastern Iowa.

Memorial Service will be 11:00 am Wedmesday August 19, 2026, at the Lampe and Powers Funeral Home in Lake City, Iowa.
