Thelma L. Johnson, age 87, of Laurens, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at her home in Laurens, Iowa.

Thelma Loretta Foster was born August 9, 1936, in Algona, Iowa. She was the daughter of Kenneth and Harriet (Fosnaugh) Foster. Thelma attended Algona Schools. On March 26th, 1955, Thelma was united in marriage to Raymond Johnson. The couple lived in Estherville where Thelma worked at Watco Chicken Processing. She then moved to Spencer in 1995 where she worked at A&M Laundry. She retired in 2011.

Thelma was a past member of the VFW Auxiliary. She loved racing, her favorite driver being Chad Palmer #14. She also enjoyed playing bingo and orange was her favorite color.

Survivors include her daughter, Vicki Allis of Laurens; son, Terry Johnson of Wallingford; 3 grandchildren; sisters, Harriet Gardener of Florida and Susan Kamprath of Iowa City, and brothers, Sam Foster of Woolstock and Steven Foster of Eagle Grove.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond; sisters, Beverly, Rita and Verna, and brothers, Kenneth "Ducky" and Ronald.
