Private family services and burial will be held for Veda at the

Summit Hill Cemetery in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Veda A. Landgraf - age 95, of Humboldt, formerly of Albert City, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020, at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in Humboldt, Iowa.

Veda Aline Ehlers was born in Sac County, Iowa on April 23, 1925 to Henry and Anna Botine Ehlers. She was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Lytton, Iowa. In 1942 she graduated at the top of her class from Lytton High School. After graduation she assisted her parents with the family farming operation. Later she attended and graduated from cosmetology school in Fort Dodge.   Then she bought and operated her own beauty shop above a grocery store in Schaller, Iowa.

In 1947 she met Lavern Landgraf recently home from serving in the army in WWII. They married on March 31, 1948. A year or two later they moved to a farm west of Pocahontas where they lived all their married life.

Veda took an active part in the farming and livestock operation in addition to tending to a large garden and chicken flock.   Participating in church activities was important to her. For many years she belonged to the Esther Circle at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Pocahontas and taught Bible School and Sunday school. She chose to teach Sunday school an additional year when her youngest grandson, Scott, was three and just starting Sunday school. In later years Veda enjoyed her free time reading, quilting, and going to dances.

She is survived by her son Roger (Kathy) Landgraf of Laurens; daughter Nylene (Myles) Van Patten of Humboldt; three grandchildren, Brian (Joy) Landgraf of Elkton, SD, Gina (Paul) Stalboerger of Byron, MN, and Scott Landgraf of St. Charles, MO; and eight great-grandchildren.

Veda was preceded in death by her husband Lavern, her parents, an infant brother, and her sisters Adrience Bruns and Linda Baum.
