Vina M. Schott, age 89, of Pocahontas, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Vina Marie Bierl was born on September 20, 1936, in Carroll, Iowa. She was the  daughter of George and Hilda (Venteicher) Bierl. She was educated at St. Columbkille Catholic School in Varina, graduating in 1955. On August 5, 1955, Vina was united in marriage to Frederick Schott in Varina.  Vina worked at Trinity Regional Medical Center in the dietary department and then milked cows on the Kennedy farm near Rolfe. When she moved to Pocahontas, Vina worked as a clerk for the retail stores of Schott's, Thelma's and M'Ladys. In 1985, Vina began working as a cook at the Pocahontas Area School cafeteria. She retired in 1999.

Vina was a member of Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church and the Catholic Ladies Society. Vina was a wonderful cook and she especially enjoyed time spent with her two boys and her grandchildren.

Survivors include her two sons, Rod Schott of Pocahontas and Rick (Carmen) Schott of Troy, IL; two grandchildren, Zach (Kaysha) and Isabella and a brother, Mel (Rhonda) Bierl of Pocahontas.

Vina was preceded in death by her parents, George and Hilda,  sisters, Wilma Castor and Dolores Anderson and an infant sibling.
