Private family graveside services will be held for Virgil at the

Clinton-Garfield Cemetery near Rolfe, Iowa.

A public Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Virgil L. Ricklefs – age 92, of Pocahontas, formerly of Rolfe, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020, at Arlington Place in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Virgil LeRoy Ricklefs was born on May 31, 1928 at Rolfe, Iowa. He was the son of John and Myrtle (Bendixon) Ricklefs. He attended Rolfe Schools and graduated in 1946. After graduation, he served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon his discharge, he returned to Rolfe to farm with his dad and brother, Bernard. On August 12, 1950, Virgil was united in marriage to Dorothy Sandven. The couple had 4 children, Dennis, Connie, Audrey and Scott. They settled near Rolfe where they farmed and raised their family. Dorothy passed away in 2005 and Virgil continued to live on the farm. In 2017, Virgil moved to the Arlington place of Pocahontas.

Virgil was an active member of the Presbyterian Church and the Shared Ministry and was a longtime member of the Rolfe Lions Club. He was a current member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church. Virgil enjoyed golfing, fishing, antique tractors and going on tractor rides. He also enjoyed raising horses and cattle and loved being on the farm. He especially enjoyed time spent with his family.

Survivors include his children, Dennis (Donna) Ricklefs of Rolfe, Connie (Steve) Jorgensen of Storm Lake, Audrey (Kent) Schwartz of Gilbert and Scott (Jennifer Klinkefus) Ricklefs of Bradgate; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and a brother, Merlin (Karen) Ricklefs of Rochester, MN.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy Ricklefs; brother, Bernard Ricklefs and sisters, Berniece Sedlacek and Islea Graeber.
