Virginia L. Perrigo, age 88, of Pocahontas, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023, at the Pocahontas Manor in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Virginia Lou Schendel was born May 7, 1934 on a farm near Cylinder, Iowa. She was the daughter of Erwin and Kathryn (Grossmeyer) Schendel. Virginia attended country school near Havelock for 8 years, then she completed her GED. On January 12, 1964, Virginia was united in marriage to Darrell Perrigo at First Christian Church in Laurens, Iowa. Together the couple lived on a farm near Ware. Virginia was a homemaker and helped on the farm. In 1971, Darrell passed away, and Virginia and her family moved to Pocahontas. She worked at the Chief Motel, as a waitress at Ideal Café, then at the Chateau. She also baby sat for several years.

Virginia was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and the Ladies Circle. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, crossword and word find puzzles, time with her cats and especially time spent with her family.

Survivors include her children, Melody (Steve) Pomeroy of Pocahontas, Brenda Perrigo (Kevin Warntjes) of Watertown, SD, Mike Perrigo of Livermore, Greg (Tami) Perrigo of Raleigh, NC and Randy (Lori) Perrigo of Ankeny; grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Zach) Kopriva, David (Leslie) Perrigo, Tyler (Taylor) Perrigo and Brooke (Anthony) Gerace; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Schendel of Pocahontas, and sisters, Rose Edge of Laurens and Betty (Ray) Ohlinger of Pocahontas.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darrell; sisters, Ruth Schendel and Barbara Rigby; sister-in-law, Donna Schendel, and brother-in-law, Harlan Edge.
