Warren Deane Presley, age 79, of Auburn, passed away Thursday, Aug 27, 2026, at Loring Hospital in Sac City, IA.  Warren was born on September 10, 1946, to parents Forrest and Alice (Kent) Presley in Lake City, IA.  He grew up on a farm west of Auburn, IA, where he attended grade school.  He later graduated from Lake View-Auburn High School in 1964.

Warren was blessed with four children: Gerald, Brett, Clint, and Deann.  In 1964, Warren married Rebecca Long; they later divorced. Warren worked several jobs throughout his life.  He worked as the City Manager in Auburn for many years and finished his career as the City Manager for the City of Lorimar.

In his free time, Warren enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, carpentry, canning, gardening, and telling jokes. You could always find him cruising the gravel roads and not being in a hurry. If you passed him along the way, he would just smile and wave, knowing he was probably holding you up. He was great at pulling you into an unbelievable story and ending with a perfectly placed punchline. Sometimes his laughter couldn't even make it to the end of the joke! Warren was handy and did a major remodel job on the family home, going to the extent of jacking it up and putting a basement underneath. His last home was built with reclaimed lumber from a corn crib that he tore down. He was involved in his community beyond his work and was a Boy Scout leader, Auburn Fire Dept. member, and spent a few years as chief. Warren was onery, enjoyed people, and loved to play pranks on his family and friends. The last few years, Warren wasn't able to physically help with projects,  but you better believe he would still show up to supervise and explain how they were doing it wrong.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Gerald (Harry) and Fae Presley of Lytton, IA, Brett Alan Presley of Manchester, IA, Clint and Jessica Presley of Auburn, IA, and Deann (Dolly) and Matthew Ortner of Auburn, IA; grandchildren: Kelli (Nate) Mohr, Melinda (Francis) Kennebeck, Alicia Meldrem, Christine Presley, Nick Presley, Mekysha Sander, Garret Ortner, Anna Ortner, Carson Ortner, Braxton Presley, Everett Presley; great-grandchildren: Cooper and Becklee Mohr, Collin, Chloe, Junior, Frankie, and Porter Kennebeck, Ella Presley, Grayson Meldrem, and Bennett Presley; siblings: Donovan Presley and Doris Davis.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Alice Presley; grandparents; siblings: Dorothy, Darlene, Dwayne, and Craig; and many great friends.

Celebration of Life Visitation will be 2:00 to 5:00 Sunday, Aug. 30, 2026, at the Lampe and Powers Funeral Home in Lake City, Iowa. Memorials can be directed to the Warren Deane Memorial to add to the Auburn Trail.
