Wayne Leroy Hart, age 88 of Lanesboro, IA, passed away on November 16, 2024, at the Saint Anthony Regional Hospital, in Carroll, IA. Wayne was born on August 19, 1936, in Iowa City, IA, to Howard and Emma (Vinser) Hart.

Wayne enlisted to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps on May 31, 1956. He served for two years earning the rank of Private and was honorably discharged on April 8, 1958, and then served in the reserve for six years.  Wayne made a living doing farm tiling and as a contractor, repairing and building elevators. He also started his own business, Hart Elevator Construction Company, in 1974, and worked until his retirement.

Wayne was a member of the United Methodist Church, RPM club of Carroll, American Legion, and Lanesboro Fire Department, and served two terms as a council member.

In 1958, Wayne was united in marriage to Marlene Marie Baker and together they had three sons: Ricky, Rodney, and Roger, and resided in Lanesboro.  In 2000, Marlene preceded Wayne in death.  Wayne then married Marlene Prill in 2001. They lived in Lanesboro and would winter in Mesa, AZ.

Back in his younger years, Wayne played Fastpitch softball and coached women's softball and peewee baseball. He attended and supported all of his son's football games and enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in volleyball, band, and football.  Wayne was an avid fisherman, a true Hawkeye fan, loved playing euchre at Esther's, and enjoyed restoring old cars and being in parades.  Wayne made a list of his favorites: the color blue, ice cream, football, singer Tammy Wynett, show Yellowstone, playing cards, and cars.  He will be deeply missed.

Wayne is survived by his Wife Marlene Prill; Sons: Ricky Hart of Lanesboro, IA, Rodney (Charlotte) Hart of Yetter, IA, and Roger (Barb) Hart of Lake City, IA; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law Lois Hart.

He was preceded in death by his first Wife, Marlene Hart; Grandson Justin Hart; Parents Howard and Emma; Siblings: Ben Hart, Howard Hart Jr., Keith Hart, Bernice Ellwagner, Gladys Dillivan, Darlene Richardson, and Betty Heck.

The Funeral Service has been scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at the United Methodist Church in Lanesboro, IA. A visitation will take place 1 hour prior to the service at the church. The burial will take place in the Lanesboro Cemetery after the service.
